HELP IT ROUND THE BEND

Uri convinced we can shift Suez blocker

- ■ by JOHN WARD

HE’S got a decent track record with cutlery – now Uri Geller wants YOU to help him free the ship wedged in the Suez Canal. Well, it’s worth a go, right?

SPOON bender Uri Geller reckons Daily Star readers can dislodge the stricken ship blocking the Suez Canal by using their minds.

The veteran psychic has called for people to help him “bend” the 200,000-tonne vessel and set it free – an operation maritime experts say could take weeks using conventional methods.

He wants everyone to visualise the ship moving at 11.11am and 11.11pm today.

The 74-year-old said: “We can do this with mind power energy. It is possible to move the ship. Let’s go for this.”

Uri says collective brain power can shift the container giant, Ever Given.

In a video message to readers, he said: “Billions of dollars are lost every day from other ships trying to cross, we are going to believe in ourselves, we will try this. I believe in your powers. We are going to try to move it with our minds.”

The Ever Given – the length of four football pitches – has caused a huge jam on the vital water link between Asia and Europe since getting wedged on Tuesday.

Shipping companies may have to reroute vessels around east Africa, raising security fears over attacks by pirates.

Attempts to move the ship with diggers have so far proved unsuccessful.

Its plight has sparked a flood of web memes – with some claiming its captain must have been Uncle Albert from Only Fools and Horses, above.

The character, played by the late Buster Merryfield, served in the Royal Navy – on seven different ships, which all sank.
