HOUSE WINS!

Millionaire pair who feared con plot next move

LOTTERY winner Neil Smart almost missed his £1million win because he thought it was a scam.

Neil, 50, matched the Euromillions Millionaire Maker code on Friday – but the father of three didn’t check the National Lottery app straight away.

Now, the family are busy house-hunting for somewhere bigger to live and buying a new car too.

Neil took two days to open the important message from Camelot confirming his lucky break.

“I don’t check religiously and only got around to it on Sunday night,” he explained.

When Neil logged into the National Lottery app on his phone he saw a message which read: “Congratulations, you’ve won £1m.”

Neil said: “I thought it was a scam and called my daughter to read it.

“We both thought it couldn’t be real, even though it was clearly on the National Lottery app and wasn’t just some random email.”

Neil’s daughter posted on their family group chat that Neil had won the lottery and his wife Sue, 51, replied saying it “was probably just a fiver”.

Down-to-earth Neil was up early the next day to open up the local builders’ merchant where he works.

He said: “I wasn’t going to stay in bed and leave them in the lurch. What if I was wrong about the win?”

The couple from Seaton, Devon, have three children, the youngest of whom was born with the spine condition scoliosis. Now aged nine, he needs regular trips to hospital in Birmingham.

Neil added: “This will make such a difference to the whole family.”
