EX-ROYALS WANT ‘UNITY’, SAYS PAL
A PUBLICITY-SHY couple would like to be “united” with the Royal Family despite their bombshell Oprah chat, a pal claims.
US telly news anchor Gayle King said the “difficult” conversations such as allegations of racism had to be had.
But she claims the couple are keen to repair their relationship with the Queen and senior members of the Firm.
King, 66, who works for CBS This Morning, said: “I think that interview opened up conversations that people weren’t prepared to have or didn’t want to have.
“But I think, ultimately, it’s about a family that wants to be united and be together and I’m hoping that will be the case.
“Sometimes conversations are very difficult. There’s nothing healthy when you don’t talk, so let’s all wish that for all involved in that particular story.”
During the Oprah chat, the American former actress claimed she got no support from the monarchy despite having suicidal thoughts.
She also accused one senior royal of raising concerns about how dark son’s skin would be when he was born.
Her husband also claimed his father, Prince Charles, had refused to return his phone calls.
King said the man had spoken to both his father and his brother, Prince William, since the explosive interview on March 7.
She said: “I did actually call to see how they were feeling, and it’s true, he has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too.
“The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive.”
