SON HAS JOSE EATING WORDS

- By DAVID MCDONNELL

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER’S son Noah has waded into the war of words between his dad and Jose Mourinho by claiming his father always feeds him.

Solskjaer and Mourinho clashed after Edinson Cavani had a goal ruled out by VAR during Sunday’s Premier League match between Spurs and Manchester United.

Scott Mctominay had sent Heung-min Son sprawling to the ground in the build-up.

United boss Solskjaer revealed his anger at the decision, claiming son Noah “won’t get any food” if he had acted the way Son did.

That prompted a barbed response from Tottenham boss Mourinho, who said: “Sonny is very lucky that his father is a better person than Ole”, as the row rumbled on.

Noah, who plays for Norwegian side Kristiansund BK, made light of the spat, claiming his dad never allows him to go hungry.

The 20-year-old said: “I always get food, I can assure everyone about that. One of my team-mates asked me if I had been given food before training.

“I’ve never been laying down the way Son did. Mourinho probably just wanted to take the focus away from the fact they had lost.”

United’s 3-1 win in London nudged them closer to qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Tomorrow night they take a 2-0 first-leg lead into their Europa League quarter-final with Granada.

From Back Page at Anfield by overturning a 3-1 deficit to book a Champions League semi-final spot.

Klopp has urged his side to attack Real and go all out.

He said: “This Real Madrid team has some of the greatest talent playing football in the world today.

“This isn’t a surprise – it’s what Real Madrid do.

“So to beat a side like this you must always strive for the perfect performance.

“But what we will not lose sight of is how good we are.

The talent we have, the magic in our dressing room and the character required to make special moments happen.

“We have the entire package at Liverpool. So for me it is about two giants, on the biggest stage, having the opportunity to compete.

“How cool is that? Let’s embrace it and attack it. ‘Vamos’, as a few of the players like to shout before kick-off.”

Liverpool will look to repeat their comeback from 3-0 down against Barcelona in the 2019 semi-finals.

Klopp will hope the likes of Diogo Jota (right) and Mo Salah can inspire his side and the German added: “When you’re 3-1 down it looks like you are out, that means you have not a lot to lose.

“We will give it a try. That’s the job we have and that’s exactly how we will go for it.

“They were better than us. We were not as good as we could or should have been.

“But it’s still only the first half of the tie.”
