A COLLAB – FINALLY!
RAG ’N Bone Man was floored when P!nk finally agreed to duet with him as she’d dodged his emails for over a year.
The unlikely duo teamed up on Anywhere Away From Here, but the Brighton singer admitted it wasn’t the first song he had sent her.
Rag, real name Rory Graham, revealed: “I sent P!nk another song about a year and a half before that, but I got nothing but air!
“I never actually intended to have any collaborations on this album, but we were just listening to the song one day and someone said, ‘Would you have any collaborations or would you consider making any of the songs features in the future?’
“So I sent her the song and she said ‘Yeah, it’s dope, I want to do it.’”
His new album, Life By Misadventure, like everything else, has been delayed again until May 7.
Rory began his career performing at hip-hop nights in Brighton, but he fears for new artists as there are no venues left for them to gain similar experience.
He said: “It’s sad because it feels like it’s being sanitised, not only Brighton but London as well – it feels like at some point there’s going to be no venues for them bands to play.
“So how do you cut your teeth on a live circuit if it’s just, ‘You can play at a pub or you can play at a 2,000capacity venue’ and there is nowhere in between?”
Add to that a pandemic that has shut down the entire live music industry and even a big name like Rag ’N Bone Man is suffering: “There are some shows in like June or July where I am like, ‘Yeah, they might not happen.’
“But then equally there’s loads coming up in like August and September and the tour starts in September/ October so as long as the tour happens, I’m good.”
