THE former governor of Wormwood Scrubs has admitted “diva” smackhead Pete Doherty sickened her more than Myra Hindley.
The Libertines and Babyshambles singer was jailed on drugs raps in 2008, at the height of his heroin addiction.
Former Scrubs boss Vanessa Frake has now claimed he tormented her and her wardens with his outlandish, disruptive behaviour – and looked so filthy she wanted to “scrub him in Dettol”.
And she says while she met killers like Hindley and
Rose West in her career and their manipulative, sociopathic ways turned her stomach, Doherty wound her up more.
Cocky
Ms Frake said of seeing a story in the press about the singer taking heroin in his cell, after another lag leaked an image: “At that moment, I hated Pete Doherty. Actually, I really disliked him before that.
“He was a cocky so-andso who had flaunted his drug use, thinking he was above the law. He had appeared in court 15 times on drugs charges before finally being sent down. Now he was my problem.”
Ms Frake initially put Doherty in the detox unit.
She said: “The feedback was always the same. ‘He’s up to all sorts. A total pain in the arse.’ Just as he
flaunted his heroin use on the outside, he was flouting our rules. Diva behaviour is bad, it inspires and incites other prisoners.”
She finally wiped the smirk off Doherty’s face by using sniffer dogs to raid the detox unit, weeding out mobiles and heroin wraps.
Four lags suspected of supplying him with smack were sent to other jails.
Doherty, 42 and now living in France, only did 29 days of a 14-week term.
