‘Lost & broken’ tribute to hero Danny MUM HAILS LOVING SON

- ■ by KATIE COLLINGS

THE distraught mum of a hero who died while trying to protect his girlfriend from muggers said the family was “lost” without him.

Welder Danny Humble, 35, was beaten to death in an underpass by the gang of handbag-snatchers.

His mum Deb said yesterday: “We are lost without him. We are broken. Danny was a devoted dad.

“He was a family man and very close to his two brothers, the Humble brothers – the Three Muskeeters as they were known to us. He was also a great son, someone to be proud of, and a very loving boyfriend.”

She added: “Compassionate, hilarious and a good friend, he will be missed by so, so many and his absence leaves a hole in so many lives.”

Newcastle United fan Danny was attacked as he walked with his girlfriend through an underpass in Cramlington, Northumbria, on Saturday night.

Eight teenagers aged 16 to 18 who were arrested on suspicion of murder were released under investigation.

Det Insp Joanne Brooks said: “Our thoughts go out to Danny’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time and they will continue to be supported by a team of specialist officers.

“We are absolutely committed to finding out the circumstances that led to Danny’s death. Nothing will ever bring Danny back, but his family deserve to see those responsible brought to justice.”

DIABETES ALZHEIMER’S RISK
