3 LIONS FANS NEED PROOF OF VACCINE

- ■ by JERRY LAWTON

ENGLAND’S Euro 2020 group games at Wembley Stadium will be the first sporting events fans can access with vaccine passports.

Uefa revealed that Uk-based ticketholders, aged 11 or over, must show proof they have been fully vaccinated.

That means they have to have had both doses at least 14 days before the match they are attending. Anyone who has not been fully vaccinated must show a negative lateral flow test taken within the previous 48 hours.

Uefa said its officials are “working with the local governments and health authorities to ensure measures adhere to the public health guidance of the host country”.

The jab passports will be deployed for the Three Lions’ opening Group D game against Croatia on Sunday.

Rules

They will also be used for the match against arch-rivals Scotland on June 18 and the Czech Republic four days later.

The information must be displayed via the NHS app. Yet ticketholders for games taking place at Hampden Park in Glasgow will neither be required to show proof of vaccination nor a negative Covid-19 test.

Last night, Three Lions fans demanded to know why the rules were different for matches in England and Scotland.

One wrote: “Didn’t know we’d already divided up the Union.”

Another said: “Surely rules should be the same everywhere.”

London’s Wembley and Hampden are among 11 venues across Europe hosting games. The others are Rome, Munich, Baku, St Petersburg, Budapest, Seville, Bucharest, Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

Wembley will have 22,500 fans for England’s group games. It will also host a last-16 tie, plus both semis and the final.
