STORM WARNING SINKS HEATWAVE
Thunder to follow hottest day
Sun-starved Brits have been warned to make the most of the heatwave before a 36-hour thunderstorm hits.
Yesterday saw the hottest day of the year so far – 28.6C at Heathrow, in west London, and today is set to stay the same.
The previous high was 28.3C recorded in Northolt, northwest London, on June 2.
But summer will be back on hold as downpours and floods strike from tomorrow.

It warned: “Some places are likely to see thunderstorms late Wednesday through Friday with the potential for travel disruption and flooding.”
Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth added: “Wednesday evening, we start to see things turn unsettled as hot conditions in the south allow thunderstorms to develop.”
Homes and businesses could be flooded, buildings damaged and power cuts are expected as 50mph gales sweep in.
Public transport and roads are also likely to be affected.
All of the south-east, London, the Midlands and parts of the south-west are covered in the warning along with eastern Wales and most of the north, including Liverpool, Newcastle and Yorkshire.
Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: “Very warm but increasingly moist unstable air will reach the UK midweek. The end of next week looks cooler.”
