OPTIMIST: Scots fan in the mood

UP to 20,000 ticketless Scotland fans vowing to travel to London for tomorrow’s Euro 2020 showdown with England have been told: “Stay away.”

Tartan Army supporters plan to gather in Hyde Park before watching the Group D clash in pubs and bars. But police chiefs have told them they “should not come” if they do not have seats as there is nowhere set aside to view the match.

There are no Covid-secure fan zones and Trafalgar Square is only open to Covid-19 key workers.

Sven Lister, from the Rosyth Tartan Army supporters club, called for a big screen to be put up in Hyde Park.

Trouble

He warned: “There’s going to be groups wandering, possibly not getting to see the football, which would cause trouble.’’

Scotland have been allocated fewer than 3,000 tickets for the sellout at Wembley.

Black market seats were reportedly going for up to £8,500 online last night.

And all trains from Glasgow and Edinburgh to London tomorrow morning are sold out.

The late 8pm kick-off has sparked further fears supporters could spend all day drinking.

Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Sir Stephen House said: “We are expecting a large number of fans from Scotland to come down for the England v Scotland match.

“Inevitably people will attend who don’t have tickets.

“We have significant extra resources on duty to deal with any disorder that may occur.

“I would urge all fans to behave properly and to control their drinking.

“To fans from Scotland, if they don’t have a ticket they should not come.’’
