Wilder wants revenge
DEONTAY WILDER says Tyson Fury is a “coward” and warned him he will punish him for trying to get out of their third fight.
The American will face the WBC heavyweight champion on July 24 at Las Vegas’ T-mobile Arena.
But Wilder had to win a legal battle to force the trilogy clash after he suffered defeat when they met in February 2020.
Now the Alabama man has vowed to get revenge for his only career loss when he takes on the British star again. He said: “The layoff has been good for me and bad for him, because I have only had time to progress. They should have got me earlier but they ran and tried to dodge me and try to do me wrong after I had done right by him and put money in his pocket.
“It’s a coward’s way to run. I guess being a coward is the thing.
“I hate him now, I think nothing of him, there is bad blood and it will always be bad blood. I am going to do more than punish him, I am going to do the most brutal thing you can come up with in your mind and we will go with that.
“Hate is a motivation to destroy. That’s what the devil does every day.”
Wilder, 35, suffered the only defeat of his 34-fight career against Fury but then made a series of unproven allegations against him.
They included claiming the Gypsy King’s gloves were tampered with – something the Briton has strenuously denied.
Wilder (left) then pointed to the fact that Fury served a backdated two-year ban from UK Anti-doping in 2017.
He said: “We are dealing with a known drug cheat. A lot of people saw no, even spoke no, evil. People didn’t care about what they saw.”
The Bronze Bomber could yet wreck the hopes of an undisputed clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua, warning it will be him gunning for AJ.
He said: “The mission is the same, it never changed – one champion, one face, one name.”
