SPOT THE BULL

JUST THREE DAYS AFTER ACCEPTING GROPER HANCOCK’S HALF-ARSED APOLOGY FOR CHEATING, BOZO SAYS HE ACTUALLY SACKED HIM.. THEN SAYS HE DIDN’T ACTUALLY SACK HIM

- ■ by JERRY LAWTON

IF you’re struggling to keep up with politics these days – and let’s face it who isn’t – then hopefully this exciting new game will help.

BORIS Johnson was accused of “rewriting history” after implying he sacked Matt “Coco” Hancock over his Covid rule-busting snog.

Asked if Hancock’s affair undermined the message about the nation being “all in it together”, Prime Minister “Bozo” replied yesterday: “That’s right...

“And that’s why when I saw the story on Friday we had a new Secretary of State for Health in on Saturday. I think that’s about the right pace to proceed in a pandemic.”

Mr Johnson made the claim despite saying on Friday he had “full confidence” in Mr Hancock.

Twist

Bozo said he considered the “matter closed” after Coco apologised for breaching distancing rules to kiss senior aide Gina Coladangelo.

It was only after 80 Tory MPS called for his head that Mr Hancock announced he had quit.

And after Coco’s video statement on Saturday, the PM said he was “sorry to receive” his resignation.

But in a bizarre twist yesterday on a visit to Batley ahead of Thursday’s byelection, Bozo suggested he had fired Mr Hancock.

The PM’S official spokesman later said Boris had neither fired him nor urged him to quit.

Asked if the minister was sacked, the spokesman replied: “No. The former Health Secretary resigned.’’

Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner said yesterday: “Boris Johnson is trying to rewrite history because he didn’t have the guts to sack Matt Hancock.”

Coco faces another probe over claims he conducted pandemic work on a private email account, not a secure official one. jerry.lawton@dailystar.co.uk
