We’re rapping for Engerland!

FANS KREPT & KONAN ROAR

-

THREE Lions football song heroes Krept & Konan will cheer on the team against Germany tonight – while still trying to think of a good rhyme for Jack Grealish.

The duo give a shout-out to several English players in their huge new Euro 2020 tune Olé (We Are England), but had good reason not to name-check the Aston Villa midfielder.

Krept told me: “We had to guess which players would make the squad when working out who to give a shout-out to.

“We then had to work out which players’ names we could find double entendres for.

“We would have loved to include Grealish, but it was difficult to find something that rhymed with it!” Olé features fellow rappers S1lva, Morrison and M1llionz, and would have starred one of England’s strikers if the duo had their way. Konan revealed: “We heard on the grapevine that Dom Calvert-lewin can rap. It would have been cool to have had him do a verse on the track.” The duo’s tune was released on Friday, after England reached the knockout stages and BBC One showed a documentary about the track. Konan explained: “The process of finalising the line-up for the song and clearing all the artists with their labels can take some time. “But the reaction Olé has had online and getting 500,000 viewers in the first 24 hours was worth the wait.”

For every classic England song, such as Three Lions and World In Motion, there are loads of musical own goals out there.

Krept insisted: “The key to getting a good football song is not to over-think it. We had to just do what we’ve been doing in our career, which is making music that sounds good to us.”

The duo are proud their song represents a younger audience than traditional football songs, as Krept explained: “With the diversity within the England team, it felt the right moment for an anthem to represent this generation.”

Konan added: “It feels good to have the support of the players.

“Knowing they’re into it and seeing them re-post and support it makes it special.”
