EU CAN’T STOP ME

With 60k fans at Wembley aiming to roar England to final, captain Kane insists... Harry warns Danes he’s at peak of his powers

HARRY KANE has warned Denmark he is unstoppable when he hits top gear.

The England skipper is convinced he is peaking at just the right time after scoring twice against Ukraine in the 4-0 quarter-final romp in Rome.

And he’s laughed off talk from Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen that Denmark are confident they can shut him down by saying: ‘Good luck with that!’ Asked whether he thinks he can be stopped when he’s at his best, Kane said: “To be honest, probably not.

“My game understanding, in terms of what I need to do to not just help myself but the team, is probably at its best in my career so far. It is not a problem.”

Kane has also warned the Danes that if they focus too much on trying to shut him down, they’ll end up giving

opportunities to his teammates. He said: “If you try and stop me, then, that’s okay because you have got other players who are just as good who can cause problems.

“It is not the case where you stop me and you stop us as a team. We have plenty of threats, plenty of options, plenty of different ways of playing.

“When I am playing at my best, I feel like I can score goals or provide assists against anyone. Hopefully that will be the case.”

From facing flak for going through the group goalless, Kane is now being compared to England greats like Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Gary Lineker again. He said: “It is a proud achievement to be up there with players like Gary and Alan and Wazza. But they are bonuses that come along with it.

“It is not that you set out to achieve or you look for. It is great to be in that company but my focus is always on the next goal, the next game.”

Kane also admits he feels for the millions of England fans watching at home, adding: “It is easier playing. Growing up I would always be down the pub with my family and friends watching England games, hopefully with a few beers being thrown over us because that would mean we had scored and were doing well.”
