CHOICE With

- Mike Ward

Last time we saw Charlie Brooks in Australia I seem to recall she was chewing on turkey testicles. But that was probably still more fun than she’s having in LIE WITH ME, an Aussie-set thriller kicking off tonight on Channel 5 (9pm).

In this new Monday-tothursday four-parter, she plays a rather troubled soul called Anna, married to an Australian bloke whose native land she’s recently relocated to.

We don’t really know for now what made this pair quit London and move down under, but we’re given the impression it was something pretty bad. And while Anna’s making all the right noises about this being a fresh start for them, it’s obvious she’s still not fully over what happened.

She also suspects her hubby is cheating on her, seemingly not for the first time. But is it really such a smart idea for anxious Anna to drunkenly share her concerns with Becky, their new live-in nanny, hired to look after the kids as she starts a new job?

(Clue: No, of course it’s blinking isn’t.)

Elsewhere, the second episode of GOLD RUSH: OUR RACE TO OLYMPIC GLORY (9pm, BBC One) takes the story as far as Beijing 2008. That was the year when Team GB finally started getting its act together, finishing with 47 medals (subsequently upped to 51 when it turned out some rotters from elsewhere had cheated).

Among those the programme hears from is Tom Daley, who was just 14 when he represented us that summer, doing that scary diving stuff you couldn’t persuade me to do for a million quid.
