Outrage at Bozo’s quarantine dodge bid
FLIP-FLOPPING Bozo has made yet another U-turn after trying to dodge a Covid “ping”.
PM Boris Johnson sparked outrage as he attempted to skip quarantine while hundreds of thousands of Britons are stuck indoors self-isolating.
BORIS “Bozo” Johnson flipflopped again last night after trying to dodge quarantine following a Covid Test and Trace ping.
Initially, the Prime Minister said he would join a Government pilot scheme of daily testing to avoid self-isolating.
He got an NHS alert when Health Secretary Sajid Javid contracted the virus.
But the PM and Chancellor Rishi Sunak backtracked amid complaints of “one-rule-for-us, another rule for them”.
They faced accusations of using a “VIP lane” unavailable to ordinary workers as self-isolations bring businesses and public transport to the brink of collapse.
In a video from his country estate at Chequers, Bucks, Mr Johnson said: “We did look briefly into the idea of us taking part in the pilot scheme.
“But I think it’s far more important that everybody sticks to the same rules.
“That’s why I’m going to be selfisolating until the 26th of July.”
“Dishi” Sunak said: “Whilst the pilot is fairly restrictive, I recognise that even the sense that the rules aren’t the same for everyone is wrong.’’
Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner tweeted: “Sorry for the unparliamentary language but this just takes the p***. This govnt treat the public with contempt and think the rules don’t apply to them.”
And Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said the Government was in “chaos”.
EX-PM Tony Blair warned 10 million people could be isolating by August 16, plunging the economy into chaos.
Prof Neil Ferguson, whose modelling led to the first lockdown, said cases could reach 200,000 a day under the new wave.
A Government spokesman confirmed the PM would remain at Chequers.
There were 48,161 new cases and 25 Covid deaths in the latest 24-hour period, taking the UK total to 128,708.
● Test and Trace app pings are causing a transport staff shortage. The RMT’S Mick Lynch said: “Freedom Day could very easily collapse into Chaos Day.”
