KSI: I’m over it now

STARS AND LABEL BOOST

-

EVERYONE who’s anyone in pop made an appearance at The KSI Show over the weekend.

Anne-marie, AJ Tracey, S-X, Ella Henderson, Digital Farm Animals and Craig David all celebrated the rapper’s phenomenal year by taking to the stage at his global virtual event.

Performing songs from his No2 debut Dissimulation and his newly dropped sophomore LP All Over The Place, KSI joined his collaborators on stage for an unforgettable night. However, it’s the little guys that KSI wants to concentrate on next as he hopes to start signing new artists himself.

KSI told me: “This year I have created my own label, I’m taking it step by step.

“I’m looking to help build other artists now, especially the ones that are coming from the whole Youtube side of things.

“I feel like that is my expertise trying to build music through that. It’s about understanding how things work and what audiences want as it’s not all about just releasing music – you have to do more than that.”

KSI insisted breaking through on Youtube helped him understand how to build a brand, and he wants to pass that knowledge on to the next generation of stars.

He continued: “You need to market yourself, you need to find your voice to push your music on to people, and I feel like that’s what a lot of artists miss out on.

“They don’t do the extra stuff so a lot of people don’t hear their music, compared to someone who might be less talented, yeah, but they know how to market themselves way better.”

Being your own brand does come with some downsides though.

He laughed: “My name has been clickbait for years now.

“I have been in the industry for like 10 years now, so my name holds weight.”

He’s not wrong, just look at his supporters at The KSI Show.
