Kane can be party pooper

- By HECTOR NUNNS

TOTTENHAM boss Nuno Espirito Santo is backing Harry Kane to rain on the big Toon parade tomorrow afternoon.

Spurs travel to a sold-out St James’ Park with the stadium set be rocking after the completion of a takeover by a Saudi Arabian investment fund and the exit of former owner Mike Ashley.

And the visitors’ boss is determined to silence the Geordie hordes and believes his under-fire England captain is the man to do it. Kane, 28, is yet to score in the Premier League this season after a £100m move to Manchester City failed to materialise in the summer. Nuno said: “Of course after what has happened with Newcastle we expect them to have a very supportive crowd. We just have to focus on our tasks and quieten the fans.

“With Harry, it is normal what people have been saying and I’m sure he is used to it but we are relaxed. We know there is much more than goals with Harry in terms of what he does for the team.

“He is a fantastic player, one of the best – and the goals will come.

“I don’t see anything different about Harry and it is about realising that things will happen naturally.

“We have to know that sometimes you are on top of the world and sometimes not.”

Nuno’s plans were plunged into chaos by two players testing positive for coronavirus.

Both men, who trained with the group on Thursday, were shown to have contracted Covid-19 after tests in the last 24 hours.

The two unnamed players must now isolate for 10 days.

Beside’s tomorrow’s trip to Newcastle, they will also miss the Europa Conference League match with Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday and the London derby at West Ham next weekend.

The club are understood to be confident that no other players will have to isolate due to close contact with the infected pair.
