I THOUGHT my new girl was “normal” but she’s got a very dark, secret side.
We’ve been going out for a few months. We’ve enjoyed meals out, trips to the beach and satisfying – if a little vanilla – sex.
I’ve introduced her to my family and friends, who all think she’s great.
But I recently stayed over at her place and found a stash of porn and sex toys that made my hair stand on end.

She’d been called into work early. She left me tucked up in bed. She encouraged me to take my time; have a shower, breakfast and leave when I was ready.
But being the nosy so-and-so that I am, I couldn’t help having a snoop around her room.
I checked out her wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside table. I know it was terrible of me.
I hit pay dirt when I checked under the bed and found two large plastic boxes containing some very X-rated material.
As well as vintage porn magazines and DVDS, there were nipple clamps, plugs, vibrators – all the usual stuff.
But in a separate bag I found what I can only describe as instruments of torture; these leather, metal and rubber items
wouldn’t have looked out of place at the Tower of London. I couldn’t even work out what half of them were for. I’m no shrinking violet but I was shocked.
Now I’m both excited and scared. Am I dating a secret vamp? Could she be using this stuff on other people behind my back?
I have to admit that her flat is gorgeous considering her salary. Might she be a sex worker on the side?
Should I get her to explain herself?

you. It was despicable of you to turn over her bedroom the way you did.
She trusted you in her own, personal space.
She was unexpectedly called into work and I don’t imagine for one minute that she thought that you’d go through her clothes and then scramble under the bed like a thief in the night.
Shame on you. How would you like it if you discovered that someone had been through your private things?
I suggest you now take each new day as it comes and treat her with love and
respect, rather than doubt and suspicion. It’s not for you to judge. You’re very quick to jump to conclusions, aren’t you?
I suspect that you’ll discover everything there is to know about her as the relationship develops.
Why shouldn’t an independent, adult woman who knows her own mind have a selection of sex toys that excite and please her?
However, if you were disturbed by her choices of toys and porn, then maybe you have to accept that you could be in over your head.
