AS GEMMA PROVES IT’S A SMALL WORLD The se IN SOAP LAND BY JOINING CORRIE, MEET... rial offenders

-

ACTRESS Gemma Oaten is joining Coronation Street as a new love interest for Tyrone Dobbs.

But you may well recognise her as Emmerdale’s Rachel Breckle, a role she played between 2011 and 2015. The character was killed off-screen in 2019. It makes her one of many stars who have swapped soaps, as

reveals...

Michelle Collins – Eastenders to Corrie

Playing Walford’s Cindy Beale – Ian’s scheming and cheating wife – made her a star and she held the role for a decade until 1998. She popped up in Corrie in 2011 playing Stella Price, the new landlady of the Rovers Return, and pulled pints until 2014 – but faced criticism over her dodgy Mancunian accent.

Ross Kemp – Emmerdale to Eastenders

Way back in 1986, the telly hardman was Emmerdale squaddie Graham Lodsworth for 22 episodes. He would later hit the big time as Grant Mitchell in Eastenders from 1990 to 1999. Now a documentary maker, he returned to play Grant in 2016 for the death of his on-screen mum Peggy.

Gillian Taylforth – Eastenders to Hollyoaks

As Kathy Beale, she was there from day one of Eastenders in 1985, staying on until 2000 and covering plots dealing with divorce, rape and domestic abuse. She then went to Footballers’ Wives and The Bill before landing the role of matriarch Sandy Roscoe in Hollyoaks between 2013 and 2015. Gillian then went back to

Albert Square and is still a regular.

Katie Mcglynn – Corrie to Hollyoaks

The actress, who recently got the boot from Strictly, was Sinead Tinker in Corrie between 2013 and 2019 before being killed off in a cervical cancer storyline. In July she headed to Chester to play Becky Quentin, who – in typical soap style – may not be all she seems...

Nikki Sanderson – Corrie to Hollyoaks

Blackpool-born Nikki joined Corrie in 1999 and left in 2005 when her character Candice Stowe quit the cobbles to become a stylist for Status Quo. Following an appearance in Heartbeat, in 2012 she landed the role of Maxine Minniver in Hollyoaks, where she is still working today.

Claire King – Emmerdale to Corrie

She was super-bitch Kim Tate in Emmerdale for 10 years before departing in 1999. Her storylines included a number of racy affairs and she continued the theme as Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street between 2014 and 2017, bedding Nick Tilsley and Dev Alahan. Claire headed back to the Dales in 2018, where she’s still up to no good today.

Hayley Tamaddon – Emmerdale to Corrie

Hayley played Delilah, a member of the infamous Dingle clan, in Emmerdale between 2005 and 2007. She then made the leap across the Pennines to Coronation Street in 2013 where she played Andrea Beckett, exiting in 2015 alongside co-star Craig Charles, who played her boyfriend Lloyd Mullaney.

Jamie Lomas – Hollyoaks to Eastenders

Jamie joined ’Oaks’ in 2006 as resident bad boy Warren Fox and played the club owner until 2001. Two years later he bagged a part in Eastenders as Jake Stone – and found himself as a key suspect in Lucy Beale’s murder. After departing Walford in 2015, he’s now back full time in Hollyoaks.

Gemma Atkinson – Hollyoaks to Emmerdale

Gemma found fame as troubled Lisa Hunter in Hollyoaks between 2001 and 2005, and returned for two late-night spin-offs. After a stint in Casualty, the Buryborn star hopped up north for two years as Carly Hope in Emmerdale between 2015 and 2017. Now a radio host, today she’s probably best known for her 2017 turn on Strictly.

Chris Bisson – Corrie to Emmerdale

Long-term soap fans will remember Chris as Vikram Desai – Dev’s cousin and a Weatherfield resident between 1999 and 2002. In those two years, he managed to date Leanne Battersby, Maria Sutherland and Nikki Sanderson’s character Candice Stowe. But he’s played Jai Sharma in Emmerdale since 2009

– a character who had a one-night stand with Gemma Oaten’s Rachel.
