The England fast bowler suffered a mishap earlier this year when he was cleaning out a fish tank and smashed it in the bath. He had to have surgery to remove a piece of glass which became lodged in a finger.
DAVE BEASANT
In 1993 the Chelsea goalkeeper knocked a jar of salad cream out of a cupboard and decided to break its fall with his foot – this severed a tendon in his big toe and he was out of action for several weeks.
RIO FERDINAND AND DAVID JAMES
During his time at Leeds, former England defender Ferdinand injured a tendon behind his knee after watching TV for hours with his foot up on a coffee table. Meanwhile, goalkeeper James pulled a muscle in his back reaching for a remote control

The diminutive former Aston Villa full-back strained his knee by
stretching to reach the accelerator in his new Ferrari. He later traded it in for a Rover.
ALAN MULLERY
The England star missed the 1964 tour of South America after injuring his back while brushing his teeth.
DAVID BATTY
Former Leeds and Blackburn midfielder Batty managed to re-injure his achilles tendon when he was run over by his toddler on a tricycle.
SAM TORRANCE
The former Ryder Cup skipper almost missed the matches at the Belfry in 1993 after fracturing his sternum when he tripped over a flower pot while sleep-walking.

The England all-rounder shaved his head during the 1993-94 tour to the West Indies. He didn’t wear a hat, got sunstroke and spent two days in bed.

The former Barnsley midfielder was sidelined for five months with a torn knee ligament after slipping over on a puddle of his dog’s wee in 1999.
