WARREN PARKER PUT ON A SHOW

- FRANK Interview by CHRIS MCKENNA

IN last weekend’s column I promised that my supermiddleweight superstar Zach Parker would be out to make a statement against the neverbefore-stopped Marcus Morrison.

Even I couldn’t have predicted however just how impressive the Derby man (below) would look.

He beat up and blew away a tough Morrison in just four rounds last Saturday, with a series of world-class, devastating body shots that will have put the entire 168lb division on notice.

If you haven’t seen the fight, I encourage you to seek out the highlights on the BT Sport Boxing Youtube page.

British boxing has a new star on its hands.

Later that same evening, Canelo Alvarez staked his claim to be considered the best boxer on the planet when he unified the super-middleweight world titles with a brutal stoppage of his own against

Caleb

Plant.

This puts Canelo on a collision course with

Parker, who ranks No.1 in the world with the WBO.

Whether that fight happens next or not is unclear but, in the meantime, I will keep my man busy as he’ll need all the experience he can get when he fights for world honours against the likes of Canelo.

That’s very much business for 2022

– but there is plenty to look forward this year.

There is a fantastic array of domestic and international fights for fans to savour but I believe the best all-british battle of the lot is on December 4 at the Copper Box Arena in London.

There is bad blood, and a score to settle, between Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde.

Lyndon scored a close-decision win when the pair first met and this time Anthony is looking to take the judges out of the equation.

I expect the winner of that fight to go on and fight for a world title,

which shows how strong British boxing is as the year draws to a close.
