Hotshot Harry puts minnows to sword

bad San Marino, who had Dante Rossi receive a second yellow for a foul on Conor Gallagher, really were.

With Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Luke Shaw and Jordan Henderson all unavailable, Gareth Southgate rang the changes.

But nobody was expecting this to be anything but a breeze for England, who handed full debuts to Arsenal pair Aaron Ramsdale and Smith Rowe.

Fans didn’t have long to wait for something to cheer about when Phil Foden floated in a corner for Maguire to head home.

At times it was such fun to watch. Trent Alexander-arnold spraying pinpoint balls. Foden gliding across the field. Bukayo Saka taking people on. It was Saka who made the second, giving his marker a torrid time before firing in off hapless centre-back Fabbri.

And Kane was then handed a gift when VAR spotted a handball by Rossi and after a quick check on his monitor, referee Rade Obrenovic awarded the penalty.

The England skipper dispatched the spotkick, but was only warming up. Looking to add to his hat-trick from Friday night, he clearly fancied another.

And he quickly bagged his second of the night, sweeping home a Smith Rowe cross.

When San Marino conceded another penalty, there was no doubt who was taking it, with Kane completing his hat-trick.

And things were getting silly when he bagged a fourth before half-time, finding the bottom corner through a scrum of bodies. To be fair to San Marino, they did actually have a shot on target when Ramsdale dived to tip away a deflected striker from Nicola Nanni.

Southgate only had six outfield players on his bench but had already brought three of them on by the start of the second half as this became a walkover.

Smith Rowe got in on the action to bag his first goal for his country before it was finally time for Kane to get a rest.

How they will need the Spurs hotshot in this form in Qatar.

But Mings added another shortly after Rossi saw red, and there was still time for Abraham and Saka to score two more as England scored 10 for the first time since 1964.
