And he was even more excited when the teen revealed he supported Chennai Super Kings – the Indian team who paid more than £1million to have him in 2009, making him the highest-ever-paid IPL player alongside compatriot Kevin Pietersen. But Freddie was left crestfallen and explained: “This young lad gets in and is talking about how he loves cricket and I thought I was on the same level as him.

“I said, ‘Who is your team?’ and he says, ‘Chennai Super Kings,’ and I went, ‘All right…’

“Then nothing.”

Paddy joked: “Freddie played for them! It was a lovely moment of like ‘That’s youth – who’s this fella?’

Freddie added: “I told him he couldn’t drive after that!”
