Rodgers reminds fans they are on same side
BRENDAN RODGERS has appealed to Leicester fans to get behind his side and be “for us rather than against us”.
The FA Cup winners were booed during and after a poor 3-0 home loss to table-toppers Chelsea.
The Foxes have come fifth in the last two seasons but find themselves 12th after one point from three games.
They now face a crunch home tie with Polish side Legia Warsaw in the Europa League, with star man Jamie Vardy not expected to start, needing victory to keep alive hopes of topping Group C to qualify for the last 16.
Asked if he had a message for the club’s supporters, Foxes boss Rodgers (inset) said:
“For me it is about encouraging the team.
“We understand the frustrations – but I ask for a little perspective.
“These players have given so much in the last couple of years and given great joy to the supporters.
“But we have to be together. The King Power Stadium is a difficult

place for teams to come and play when you have that synergy in the supporters and team.
“When the team are suffering a little bit with consistency, then that encouragement will help them.
“Bring that incredible passion and support and really encourage the team. That will always give us a chance and we need them for us rather than against us.”
Leicester’s form has not been helped by long-term injuries to star defenders Wesley Fofana and James Justin, while attacking duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are struggling to find their best form.
It led to a frank dressing room inquest this week at City’s training ground.
Forward Ayoze Perez revealed: “They have been honest and open conversations, which is important.
“We know we are struggling in terms of results and performing – but we are focused on what we can change to get the results we want.”
