A DOG called Beyoncé, a drum kit, a 1940s typewriter and a suitcase full of Blackpool rock were among items left behind by Travelodge guests last year.

Other bizarre items included a drone, 6ft feathered angel wings, a coin collection and a Jimmy Choo Cinderella shoe.

Staff at the chain’s 582 hotels reported a significan­t increase in holiday items left behind last year.

A dress made from postcards was left in Bournemout­h, while housekeepe­rs in Rhyl were greeted by a huge inflatable unicorn pool float.

The Pomsky dog called Beyoncé was left behind in Manchester.

The company’s Shakila Ahmed said: “When it comes to why so many customers forget treasured items, it’s basically due to us all being time-poor and being in a hurry to get from A to B.

“In the rush, valuable possession­s are easily forgotten.”

Study co-author Jonas Potthoff, from the University of Graz in Austria, said: “Gaze duration was associated with self-esteem.” A group of 68 adults – mostly students in their early 20s – were recruited to help experts study mirror exposure therapy, which is used to help those with eating disorders. The men spent 80 seconds on average checking out their own faces – while women took just 75 seconds. Yet this could actually mean that women are more confident with their appearance.

Dr Potthoff added: “While some people enjoy looking at their faces, others experience emotional distress.

“High self-esteem indicates that, on the whole, individual­s are satisfied with themselves and are not overly critical. “Surprising­ly, higher self-esteem was associated with shorter – possibly less critical – viewing of their own face.” – modern men are more vain

A VICTORIA Cross won by a British soldier in the Indian Mutiny is being sold for £180,000. Private Patrick Donohoe saved fellow VC recipient Lieutenant Robert Blair from spearwield­ing rebels during the Battle of Bolondshuh­ur in September 1857.
