Air blast will make it warmer than Ibiza
SUMMER is coming blazing back – with a 10-day 30C heatwave.
Thermometers will rocket to 86F from the middle of next week as Britain braces for a “major heatwave”.
It will be driven by a hot air blast from the Azores islands.
Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden said: “From the middle part of next week, high pressure will become dominant and temperatures will rise.
“This will hold out for at least seven to 10 days as a major heatwave begins to take hold.
“Temperatures will range in the mid-20Cs widely across the country to start with before approaching or exceeding the 30C-mark.
Hottest
“It would not be out of the question to see temperatures higher than in the hottest spots.”
The area of high pressure will build from the Atlantic as the UK turns hotter than Ibiza and tropical Hawaii.
Jim Dale, meteorologist for British Weather Services, explained: “There are signs that the weather will turn warmer again next week.
“This will be due in part to the Azores High, which is going to start building over the weekend. This will start to take effect during midweek, and there is the possibility of it turning very hot.”
Sizzling forecasts have prompted bookies to slash odds on weather records. Coral is offering 1-2 on the hottest summer ever with 5-4 on July steaming into the record books.
Its spokesman John Hill said: “Our betting suggests things are going to get even hotter this summer, and by the time it is over, it will be the hottest summer the UK has ever had.
“We make it odds-on for the highest ever UK temperature of 38.7C to be broken, while temperatures may even climb to as high as 40C.”
