PANIC THEORY UPSETS MOYES

- ■ by DARREN LEWIS

DAVID MOYES is planning for next season at West Ham and fears some clubs have been panicked into sacking their managers too soon.

“There’s been 13 managers changed,” said the Scot. “And four of the 13 might have turned things around.”

The Irons boss is sitting pretty in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League after the loyal Hammers board defied repeated calls throughout the season to sack him.

Moyes’ team has responded by finally clicking into gear, winning five of their last nine in all competitions.

They could continue their move away from relegation trouble with victory at Bournemouth tomorrow.

Moyes said: “Some really, really good managers have left their jobs – Brendan Rodgers, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Jesse Marsch.

“Maybe – maybe – clubs are being panicked into making the wrong sort of decisions.

“The owners at West Ham have stood by me and I’ve still got a lot of games to go to prove they’ve made the right decision. But hopefully we can prove that by the end of the season.

“I’m planning for next season. My head’s down and focused on how I’m getting myself more points at the moment – that’s the only thing I can think about.”

His jig of joy after Declan Rice scored against Gent on Thursday night was reminiscent of legendary former England boss Sir Bobby Robson at the 1990 World Cup.

Moyes added: “I have got more of them to come, I hope.

“My wife and brother were in the stadium on Thursday night. It was for them and a wee bit as well for the board.

“They’ve been strong when they’ve had to be.”
