BLUES WIN GOT FRANK’S BEES BUZZING

- ■ by PAUL BROWN

THOMAS FRANK says beating Chelsea last season was the catalyst that drove Brentford on to their current heights.

And he admits he would love to finish above the Blues this season as they head into tonight’s rematch at Stamford Bridge.

The Bees stunned Chelsea by winning 4-1 there last April and are currently five points ahead of them in the table.

Brentford boss Frank (inset) said: “Last year was a special night in Brentford history. A fantastic game. One I will always remember.

“It was a win that gave us confidence to go away and win at big grounds, to make some remarkable results.

“I don’t think we’d had a remarkable win away before that. But we have won at Man City since and maybe it set that up.

“Was it the moment other teams started seeing us as a threat? Maybe.

“We hope we can go there and perform this time. I think we all know Chelsea have been struggling a bit this season.

“I know there is this local rivalry between the two clubs so it would be nice to finish above them.

“But I don’t have any specific clubs I want to end higher than.

We just want to end as high as possible.”

Frank confirmed Christian Norgaard will miss the game with an Achilles injury.

And he spoke out on rising star Aaron Hickey (left) after the Scotland full-back was linked with a move to Manchester City this week. Frank said: “The answer would be a simple no. He has not even been here a year. “With all due respect I think he is a very good player with a fantastic future. “But I hope he would need a little bit more in terms of performance to get into the City team. I think he can get there. “But a lot of things need to improve. We are pleased with him but there is much more to come from him.”
