OLEK IS GUNNER KEEP BELIEVING

- ■ by JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL ace Oleksandr Zinchenko believes the Gunners have rediscovered their “energy” for the title race and are ready to take it to the wire.

Mikel Arteta’s side stumbled at just the wrong time after going four games without a win to hand the initiative to Manchester City.

But former City star Zinchenko says Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Chelsea has restored their confidence for the run-in and the whole squad believe they can win the title.

“If you don’t believe, there is no point playing. So of course I do,” said the Gunners defender.

“Of course everyone is frustrated, until the Chelsea game. Now we have got three points, I hope the energy is back and let’s see what is going to happen in the next games.”

Arsenal face a daunting trip to Newcastle on Sunday when they face Eddie Howe’s men who are in red-hot form and are set for a top-four finish. Zinchenko added: “We have to be focused on the next game because we have Newcastle away, who are having an amazing season.

“So we have to prepare as best we can.”

Arsenal have condemned the shining of a laser into the face of Chelsea forward Mykhaylo Mudryk as a fan was arrested over the incident on Tuesday.

Mudryk (left) had been close to joining the Gunners in January before signing for their London rivals, and he was targeted with the laser during the game at the Emirates.

An Arsenal statement read: “An arrest has been made following the use of a laser during last night’s match.

“This behaviour is dangerous and totally unacceptable, and we will fully support the police with their enquiries.

“We will obviously take the strongest possible action.”
