DUFFY WON’T BE GETTING HIT FOR SIX

-

PRESTON 0 NORWICH 1

SHANE DUFFY says Norwich must silence the outside noise during the run-in.

Gabriel Sara conjured up a bit of late magic to fire the Canaries six points clear of seventh placed Hull in the play-off race.

“It’s huge,” admitted experienced defender Duffy, who was promoted to the Premier League with Brighton in 2017.

“Especially at this time of year. We just need to keep doing the same and don’t get distracted by the noise.

“That’s what the manager’s said to us all season. Even when we weren’t going well he told us not to get distracted by what people were saying and when we’re doing well not to get too high with it.

“A lot of lads have been there and done it so we’ll keep being level-headed.”

David Wagner’s Canaries have three games to go to hold on to their top-six spot.

And centre-back Duffy (above) added: “It wasn’t pretty. This is a difficult place to come. Obviously our away record this year has not been where we wanted it to be, so three points and a clean sheet, we’ll take it.

“Defenders love an away clean sheet win.

“I think we’ve been unlucky at times, and there have been times where we’ve been absolutely nowhere near good enough.”

Defeat all but ended Preston’s play-off chances as they sit eight points off the pace after they huffed and puffed without reward.

And keeper Freddie Woodman said: “It really hurts to come within touching distance again in such an important game.

“We’ve come away with defeat and it’s really disappointing.

“It’s pretty raw, it’s hard, but we have to somehow get ourselves up for the remaining fixtures.

“We have to go to Southampton and put in a good showing.

“We have to do that every game no matter if it’s four games to go or in the middle of the season.”
