Ushering in a new era of buying and selling fine wine

Newly launched in August 2017, Wine Auctioneer is an online auction specialising in fine, old, rare and collectable wines. Brought to you by the team behind Whisky Auctioneer, one of the world’s largest and most successful online whisky auctions, this new venture brings wine lovers, the world over, a more accessible way to buy and sell mature wine.

Whisky Auctioneer’s decision to launch the new site came in response to the growing diversification of their whisky auctions. As founder and Managing Director, Iain McClune explains, ‘over the past 4 years we have seen a big increase in consignments of wine, port and other spirits to our auctions. It became clear that there was a demand for an easy to use online auction platform within the fine wine community. With our established reputation as specialist auctioneers and our in-depth knowledge of the drinks industry it was a natural move to launch a dedicated website to meet this demand’.

The team is headed up by wine expert Stuart Campbell, who has over 15 years’ experience in the wine industry including as the owner director of Fyne Wines, an independent wine merchant.

Commenting on the auction, Campbell said: “We’re all really excited by this new venture. Wine Auctioneer heralds a movement away from the traditional bricks-andmortar auction house towards a platform that meets the needs of a modern global audience of buyers and sellers. We are the fine wine auction for the 21st century.”

In addition to the publicly-released wine, port and other spirits auctioned from the premises, Wine Auctioneer will also auction bottles held in-bond.

For interested sellers, a free valuation service is offered along with advice on how best to get bottles to the premises. If based within the UK, sellers can take advantage of a regular bottle collection service, and if out with the UK, courier collections can be arranged. Once consigned for auction, bottles will be offered to an extensive and established global user base.

Buyers will have access to a competitive auction environment offering a wide and diverse range of fine, rare and iconic wines, followed by a prompt worldwide shipping service on close of auction.
