What I’ve been drinking this month
One of the advantages of living in France is that you can buy directly from small growers, putting all the profit directly into their pockets (plus a bit for the van drivers). Having recently visited Mathieu Mélinand at Domaine des Marrans in Fleurie, I’ve bought a selection of his cru Beaujolais 2015s – and I’m loving them. You couldn’t really improve on ‘pure deliciousness’ as a tasting note – especially for the succulent, cherry-packed yet firm Morgon Corcelette 2015 (a bargain at € 12.50). Okay, it’s not Clos de Tart – but it’s so good to drink that I hardly care.
