11am: Barolo’s Golden Age: wine styles and vintages

Speaker: Michael Garner, author of Barolo, Tar and Roses and wine expert

In this fascinating masterclass you will explore Barolo in depth, learning about regional vineyard differences and tasting exemplary wines produced in the glory years of the first decade of the new millennium. The tasting begins in La Morra and works backwards through some of the finest vineyards in the central and outlying areas. All of the wines on show are from family-owned wineries on prestigious hillside sites, for which Barolo is famed. They embrace a wide spectrum of winemaking styles and include an example of the legendary 2001 vintage.
