Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Johnson’s Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 98

N/A UK www.wynns.com. au From the oldest Cabernet vines in Coonawarra, planted in 1954. The bouquet initially subdued but ripe, rich and exuding berry and violet notes. It gradually reveals flavours of great intensity, precision and elegance. There’s a subtle touch of fruit sweetness, followed by tannins so supple that it can be enjoyed now. It will be very long-lived, however. Drink 2019-2044 Alc 13%

Wynns Coonawarra Estate, John Riddoch Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 97

£ 100 (ib; 2010) Berry Bros Exchange This flagship Cabernet has a toasty, nutty patina over spicy blackberry fruit. The palate is intense and deep, lush and layered, but not big, tannic or oaky. Very stylish but powerful wine, with great length. It will age superbly. Drink 2019-2043 Alc 13.5%

£ 32-£ 37 (2014) Hailsham Cellars, Loki Youthful, fresh bouquet of bright blueberry, raspberry and mulberry. Elegant and intense, with fine-boned structure and a long finish. Time will reveal it to be an outstanding vintage. Drink 2018-2040 Alc 14%
