£15.99

Discover Wine UK, Hot Wines, Sheldons, Wapping Wines Tohu is a Maori-owned wine company located in Marlborough. It was founded in 1998 and today produces a range of wines that includes Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as lesser known varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Gris. Maori beliefs and traditions are fundamental throughout the whole winemaking process from vine to winery, using ‘kaitiakitanga’, a Maori sustainability system, which reduces negative human impact on the land. This Riesling is handpicked in the upper sections of the Awatere valley.

MB Beautifully seductive nose of crushed white stone fruits with floral notes, leading to beautiful minerality on the palate, which is clean, precise and pure. Lovely example of Riesling, with crunchy acidity.

RG Sweetly fruited style offering orange citrus and rose petal in combination with a firm lime-like acid grip on the finish.

RJ Bright, fresh and zingy, with lively zest of citrus fruit: kaffir, yuzu, lemons and lime. The fresh palate is textural, with some lime marmalade and a touch of brioche. This could be an Aussie in a blind tasting.

Trinity Hill, Marsanne-Viognier, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay 2016

95 MB 95 RG 95 RJ 95 £19.80-£22.99 Carruthers & Kent, Exel, Liberty Wines, The New Zealand Cellar Trinity Hill started life over a glass of wine in a London restaurant. The dream became reality in 1993 and today the estate in Hawkes Bay produces an interesting range of wines under the watchful eye of winemaker Warren Gibson. The 80ha of vineyards are located around the Hawkes Bay region, and the variety of sites means an array of European varieties can be grown, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, plus areas of Tempranillo, Syrah, Marsanne and Viognier.

MB Beautifully poised blend of delicate apricot fruit and soft spice, backed with fresh acid. A pristine line of beauty: full of character and wonder, with plenty of complexity.

RG Mr Honeysuckle meets Miss Apricot in this voluptuous white Rhône expression. Sumptuous and concentrated, it is smooth, suave and very textural. It is also very well proportioned.

RJ A touch of perfume on the nose, with apricots. This is luscious, clean and exciting. An evolving, fabulous style.
