Craft brands lead growth in UK-produced spirits
The UK spirits boom looks set to continue with 39 new distilleries opened in 2017, according to a report released by UHY Hacker Young accountancy group.
‘ The explosive success of the UK’s craft spirits industry has allowed boutique brands to sell at higher margins,’ said UHY Hacker Young partner James Simmonds.
The report also included HM Revenue & Customs data from 2017 that suggests demand for UK-produced spirits shows no sign of abating, with a record domestic sales total of £ 3.5 billion and gin exports exceeding £ 500 million.
