Cantina Valle Isarco

Premium white wines from Alto Adige

-

t’s a special place. High up in the Italy’s Alto Adige region, the Isarco Valley benefits from a heritage that is particularly suited to white wine making and a landscape and climate redolent of more southerly climes. Here, where glaciers caress the gentle hills of the Mediterranean-like landscape, grapes of extraordinary quality reach maturity on sunny hillsides at altitudes from 500 to 1,000 metres a.s.l. to make extraordinarily fine wines.

The roots of the vines, by reaching deep into the soil, soak up the minerals and nourishing substances present in this wonderful soil, to give the wines they produce their typical taste profile and aromas. The light and gravelly soils, the many days of sunlight and judiciously spaced rainfall provide the ideal conditions for the cultivation of white grapes. This is why the vine-growers of the Valle Isarco have specialized in the production of top quality whites with unique taste profiles.

The wines

There are no fewer than ten whites: Sylvaner, Kerner, Müller Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chardonnay, Weissburgunder and Sauvignon. They all have a special aroma, a seductive nose, a hint of minerality and a touch of elegance, which has made the white wines of the Valle Isarco famous both in Italy and abroad.

Reds make up only a tiny percentage of production, but they do not lack in charm. There are four of them: pleasant, fresh and elegant Schiava, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir and the more full-bodied and robust Lagrein.

At the top of the range is the “Aristos” line, made from premium quality grapes coming from carefully-selected vineyard sites that are cultivated with scrupulous attention to detail.

The winery

Since its establishment in 1961, the Cantina Valle Isarco has focused on two fundamental principles: producing regional speciality wines, and following international quality winemaking standards. The elegance and character of its wines are a practical illustration of the winery’s philosophy: “Quality without compromise”. About 950,000 bottles are produced each year by this modern plant, fitted with cutting-edge technological equipment. 95% are white wines.
