LAUNCH OF PASQUA’S NEW ROSE’ WINE - Y

-

VERONA, APRIL 2021: The Pasqua winery from Verona, famous for its Veronese classic wines, has always prided itself on its skills in innovation. It’s not enough to produce wine that tastes good; it must also express the territory of provenance and be what the discerning public want to buy, internationally.

Four years after Pasqua’s highly successful foray into the quality rosé wine market with a wine called 11 Minutes that told the secret of its palest blush colour in a name taken from the time of on-skin maceration, and artfully brought the consumer into the secret, the company is back with another episode in the Pasqua Rosé Wine Project.

Consumer enthusiasm for rosé wine has only intensified, as the figures in surveys specially commissioned by the Pasqua company show, and the next step is a completely new wine. An expression of the union of elegance and balance, Y is the name of the carefully studied new premium rosé wine from Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine.

THE NEW WINE: Y

Positioning:

Y is the name of the new rosé, with a strong and multifaceted personality encapsulating divergent elements: complexity and freshness, structure and delicacy, fruity notes and creaminess on the palate.

The shape of the letter Y is the perfect symbol of the winemaking style and personality of this wine, which is how it gets its name.

Like wine, the letter Y is made up of divergent elements symbolically united in the central point of the letter, which thus represents the balance of the wine and provides a promise of longevity.

Components:

Just like the letter, three grape components combine to give life to Y: two native varietals, Corvina and Trebbiano di Lugana, blended with the international Carmenère, all coming from vineyards on Lake Garda. - Corvina, which dominates the blend in percentage terms (60%), provides typical hints of red fruit, like plums, and significant acidity.

- Trebbiano (30%) brings delicate aromas of citrus fruit and white flowers, providing elegance and a long finish; - and finally, Carmenère (10-15%) gives the wine structure and ensures its stability over time.

Winemaking:

This rosé is created partly from vinification with soft-pressed red grapes and partly from maceration on white grape skins for 8/10 hours.

The must is cooled and transferred to a steel tank before the liquid is decanted from the solids and alcoholic fermentation takes place at between 13 and 16°C.

10% of the blend finishes alcoholic fermentation in new, medium toasted French oak tonneaux.

Of the rest, 30% matures for about 4 months in second-fill French oak barriques and tonneaux, again medium toasted.

Tasting notes:

Notes of vanilla and hints of toasting are evident thanks to the alcoholic fermentation in barrique, allowing secondary and tertiary aromas to emerge, uniquely for a wine of this type.

Food pairing:

Pasta with light sauces. Burrata with vegetables. Light meats such as veal and chicken. Fish: grilled or baked in the oven. Cow’s and goat’s cheeses.

Riccardo Pasqua, CEO of Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine, comments: “Our winery has always been particularly attentive to the world of rosé and Y represents an important new chapter. We are proud of what we have achieved with this wine, born from a deep understanding of the territory and its vines, and from meticulous research on the best winemaking methods. Y explores the many expressive and aromatic nuances that rosé can offer and we believe that it has all the characteristics to become a significant presence on the international scene”.

SYMBOLISM OF Y

The three arms of the letter Y are a perfect representation of its three grapes: Corvina, Trebbiano di Soave, and Carmenere, and the three divergent, but complementary, taste characteristics of the new wine: complexity contrasted with freshness, structure contrasted with delicacy, fruity notes contrasted with creaminess on the palate.

“An expression of the union of elegance and balance, Y is the name of the carefully studied new premium rosé wine from Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine.”
