Key week on cards for Rams...

-

THIS has the feeling of an important week for Derby County.

The Rams are looking to add former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe to their squad and there was talk of a medical taking place yesterday and the 24-year-old free agent signing a two-year deal.

That would take the number of summer signings made by Derby to six following Mike te Wierik, Matt Clarke, David Marshall, Nathan Byrne and Kamil Jozwiak.

Their search for a striker continues and is set to step up this week.

Kenneth Zohore of West Bromwich Albion has been linked but that speculation is wide of the mark, the Derby Telegraph understands.

Social media is particularly active during transfer windows and a striker being mentioned is former Liverpool player Bobby Duncan, who is at Fiorentina.

It would be a surprise if Derby were not aware of the talented 19-year-old and it would be a surprise if they were not interested, as many clubs are likely to be.

Good news on Derby’s injury front would be welcome this week – and a relief.

New signing Jozwiak picked up a knee injury during his debut at Luton Town on Saturday and limped off late on.

“It was a collision between two players and he felt the inside of his knee,” said manager Phillip Cocu.

“We have to see and assess. Hopefully, it is not serious because we have just got him in the building and don’t want to lose him.”

The Rams will also be hoping for good news on Jack Marriott. The striker picked up an ankle injury at Luton.

And then there is Saturday’s home game against Blackburn Rovers. Derby have lost their last three matches, including both Championship fixtures, so far. They need a win.

It has the feeling of an important week.
