Pregnant woman left in tears after dead squirrels left on car

-

A PREGNANT woman was left in tears after someone left the remains of dead squirrels attached to her car twice in less than a week.

Samantha Taylor was greeted with the gruesome sight when she left her home to go to work.

The music teacher says the idea that she could be being targeted has flashed through her mind, but she is equally concerned that these could be random acts of vandalism.

The 28-year-old says she has been left upset by the discoveries and wants the person responsible to be found so they can be stopped.

Samantha, who is five months pregnant, said she was left shocked ed when she found the remains after walking to her Renault Clio in Victoria Street on Thursday, September 24.

She said: “The first time around I put it down to kids messing around. I walk to my car with my arms full of stuff I need for work, so I had to go back with gloves and clean it off. It’s very distressing and upsetting to deal with.

“After the first incident I moved my car so it wasn’t parked in the same place.”

However, the following Monday,

September 28 she was greeted with the sig sight of more squirrel rema remains lodged into her car doo door handles.

She said: “I panicked. I wondered why somebody would do this,” said Samantha, who lives with husband Matthew in South Normanton.

She said: “I called my mum in tears on the way to work asking her how to address it and she told me to call the police. It crossed my mind that I was being targeted but I couldn’t think of a reason why. We’ve lived here for five years, we get along with our neighbours – I don’t know who we would have offended to do this. I was speaking to someone else who said they knew somebody on a nearby street had also had it done to them, so it doesn’t sound like it’s just us.”

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: “We received a report on Monday, September 28, of animal remains which had been left on the handles of a car on Duke Street in South Normanton. Officers are carrying out inquiries into the incident, which is understandably upsetting to find for the car owner, and may have involved pain and suffering for animals. If anyone has any information, please get in touch.”

Derbyshire police can be contacted on 101, or through their Facebook, Twitter or web pages.
