Allestree maintain their perfect start

ONE side’s 100% start to the season had to come to an end when G&T Jenkins Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Division leaders Mayfield travelled to Allestree.

Goals from Jamie Laird (2) and Steven Leek ensured hosts Allestree ran out 3-1 winners, with Scott Lyon netting Mayfield’s goal.

As a result, Mayfield drop to fourth, one place below Allestree.

Castle Donington are the new leaders after goals from Matt Greasley, Lee Beaken and Tyler Withers gave them a 3-0 win away to Moira United.

Donington are ahead of Derby Singh Brothers on goal difference, despite their having hit six goals with reply against Rowsley 86 Reserves.

Allenton United dropped points for the first time this season, needing a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Rolls-Royce Leisure. Sam Sweeney gave Royces an early lead and although Labrada Domini scored for Allenton, it looked as though Scott Hardy’s goal had secured three points for the hosts.

However, Paco Box netted a late leveller for Allestree, who now sit three points off the summit in fifth spot.

The mid-table clash between Sleetmoor United and Shirebrook Rangers ended in a 2-1 win for the visitors, Perry Russell grabbing a brace of goals with substitute Fergus Murtagh replying for Sleetmoor.

The remaining game in the Premier Division saw Ashbourne Reserves pick up their first win of the campaign, beating Cromford & Wirkskwort­h Town Reserves 3-1. Nick Partridge (2) and Chris Cloake scored for Ashbourne, with Charlie

Marks on target for the visitors.

Acorn Albion are the new Division One leaders but it took a narrow victory at home to basement side Burton United to get them there, with Andrew Talpur and Nathan Abbey scoring in a 2-1 win.

Willington and Melbourne Dynamo Reserves are second and third respective­ly after they drew 2-2 at Cockshut Lane.

Goals from Lewis Hanley (3), Harry Baines and Danny Meyer gave Hilton Harriers Reserves a 5-0 home win over Wirksworth Ivanhoe, while Newhall United maintained their unbeaten home record by beating Sherwin 3-0 thanks to Kyle Clamp (2) and Adam Palmer.

A narrow 3-2 win at Melbourne Dynamo Developmen­t keeps Punjab United top of Division Two.

Rajan Pangulia, Arran Dosangh and Lewis Stone scored for Punjab, with Dave Brough and Oliver Walsh on target for the hosts.

It was the same score where Derby Singh Brothers Reserves’ Leon Shore scored twice but goals from Dylan Baker, Ben Oates and Robson King secured three points for visitors Pinxton United.

Stenson are three points behind leaders Punjab after a 5-1 victory away to Castle Donington Reserves, a scoreline that was repeated in the game between Willington Reserves and South Normanton Colts, with Ryan Christians grabbing an impressive hat trick.

The highest-scoring game of the day saw Bakewell Town Developmen­t triumph 8-1 against Burton Khalsa.

Jack Hibbert (3), Freddie Hatcher, Matt Stanway, Jay Fletcher, Jack Davies and Dean Spencer struck for the hosts, with Tom Leighton scoring a consolatio­n goal for the visitors.

The remaining game in the Division, between FC Sunnyhill and Inter Belper, ended in a 3-3 draw.
