Video shows Amazon lorry driver try to ‘ram smaller truck off the road’

-

RETAIL giant Amazon has sacked a driver after a shocking video emerged of him aggressively chasing down another vehicle in Derbyshire.

Footage shows the moment the fuming driver veers into oncoming traffic seemingly to “chase” another truck driver he wrongly thought had cut him up at an island.

The shocking incident was captured by Richard Madin’s dashcam footage as he was driving down Oxcroft Way in Barlborough, near Chesterfield, on Wednesday, November 18, at about 1pm.

In the video, which Mr Madin narrates, he says: “The junction we are about to go off on is towards Barlborough.

“The left-hand lane is to only go left, the right-hand lane should go straight across or right. The Amazon truck right at the end there on the left, should be going left. However, he goes straight across, nearly hitting that van.”

The video then shows the Amazon lorry starting to “chase” the driver in the smaller vehicle. A shocked Mr Madin can be heard, saying: “He thinks he is in the right and proceeds to chase him down Barlborough links road trying to ram him off the road.”

The Amazon driver then swerves into oncoming traffic and, according to Mr Madin, attempts to clip the smaller truck from the rear.

The driver of the vehicle being chased then has to mount the kerb to avoid hitting the trailer.

An Amazon spokesperson said: “We are committed to ensuring that drivers drive safely. This driver will no longer be carrying parcels on behalf of Amazon.”
