County sees 13 more Covid deaths

THIRTEEN more coronaviru­s-related deaths have been reported in Derbyshire in the latest daily figures.

Eleven of the deaths were recorded at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. Two more deaths were registered at Chesterfie­ld Royal Hospital.

The total death toll in the county since the pandemic arrived is now 943.

It comes as a total of 287 new virus cases were reported in the county in the latest daily figures.

This figure is, however, some way down on the highs earlier in the month. For example, on November 2 there were 848 cases in one day in the county.

Yesterday, Derby saw the biggest increase with 74 new cases, and remains the part of the county with the most cases overall.

Here is the breakdown for each local authority area across Derbyshire:

■Amber Valley - 3,305 ( up 43)

■Bolsover - 2,388 (up 27)

■Chesterfie­ld - 2,576 (up 21)

■Derby - 7,452 (up 74)

■Derbyshire Dales - 1,184 (up 18)

■Erewash - 2,792 (up 24)

■High Peak - 2,302 (up 29)

■North East Derbyshire - 2,767 (up 16)

■South Derbyshire - 2,856 (up 35) Locally, the number of Covid-related deaths since the start of the pandemic is as follows:

■Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust - 739 (11 more deaths)

■Chesterfie­ld Royal Hospital - 179 (two more deaths)

■Derbyshire Community Health Services - 23 (no change)

■Derbyshire Healthcare - 2 (no change)

The news comes as the UK saw the biggest rise in virus deaths since May 5.

A further 696 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of yesterday.
