You’ll know it’s Christmas with Paige’s ‘Band Aid’ sing-song

A DERBYSHIRE teenager with a passion for music has decided to support the industry by releasing an album showcasing songs by local artists.

Singer Paige Morris, who lives in Newhall, has been performing at open mic events since 2018 and will be releasing an album called Our Best Show on December 12.

The artists’ names will be kept a surprise, with Paige revealing she does not want anyone to know they are part of the album until the release.

The album will be available on CD as well as through Amazon Music, Google Play and iTunes.

Our Best Show will be a collaboration of singers and songwriters from the South Derbyshire area and will feature individual tracks and one Band Aid-style song, entitled Our Best Show, where all the artists perform together.

All the proceeds will be go to a charity called Make Some Noise, which specialises in providing musical opportunities to children.

Paige says she feels promoting local artists is very important as it helps to attract more people to open mic shows and brings out more talent from in and around Swadlincote.

The 18-year-old, who is studying art and design at Burton and South Derbyshire College, said: “I wanted to produce this album as a way of saying thank you to the open mic community who welcomed and supported me when I was performing.

“The main instrument I play is baritone ukulele and I also sing, but I also play guitar and soprano ukulele.

“Hopefully I can raise a good amount of money and donate it to Make Some Noise who will invest the money into getting more people into music.

“The album will have 27 songs on it with 26 individual tracks and then one final song, like a Band Aid singsong, where all the artists, including supporting ti artists ti t will ill sing i t together. th

“I want to help spread some positivity and fun with the lead-up to Christmas as it has been a difficult year for everyone and I am confident those who listen and buy the album will be very happy with the outcome.

“It’s highly important to support local artists, especially with the lockdown and not having anywhere to perform, the last few months have been very difficult for them.”
