Covid claims 27 more lives over weekend

NEW figures from the weekend show there were 27 new deaths related to coronaviru­s recorded across Derbyshire.

NHS England data released yesterday showed there had been 14 further fatalities linked to Covid-19 across Derbyshire in the previous 24 hours and 358 new cases of coronaviru­s recorded.

On Saturday, there were 13 new deaths related to coronaviru­s recorded across Derbyshire, according to figures released by NHS England. There had also been a further 629 cases of Covid19 reported in that 24-hour period.

Nationwide, the death toll now stands at 75,024 and 2,654,779 people have tested positive. This represents an increase of 454 and 54,990 respective­ly in the same time period.

In Derby, there has been a rise of 74 in infections, bringing the total to 10,966. Elsewhere, there have been increases of 63 in High Peak, 46 in South Derbyshire, and 44 in Amber Valley.

Government figures also showed there were a further 54,990 Covid infections nationwide – the sixth day in a row the number has been above 50,000

Of the new fatalities, 11 were recorded at Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

■ Bolsover 3,415 (increase of 24)

■ Chesterfie­ld 3,553 (increase of 30)

■ Derby 10,966 (increase of 74)

■ Derby Dales 1,656 (increase of 15)

■ Erewash 3,866 (increase of 34)

■ High Peak 3,015 (increase of 63)

■ NE Derbyshire 3,771 (increase of 28)

■ S Derbyshire - 4,287 (increase of 46) The number of Covid-related deaths is as follows:

■ Chesterfie­ld Royal Hospital 211 (increase of three)

■ Derbyshire Community Health Services 25 (no change)
