Ten more Covid-19 deaths in Derbyshire

THERE have been ten further deaths linked to Covid-19 across Derbyshire, according to the latest NHS England figures.

In the 24 hours to yesterday there were also 886 new cases of coronaviru­s recorded across Derby and Derbyshire.

In Derby alone, there was a rise of 307, bringing the total to 11,273. There were increases of 130 in Amber Valley, 92 in South Derbyshire and 84 in Erewash.

Of the new fatalities, nine were recorded at Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

The Government said a further 407 people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 75,431.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificat­e, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 91,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

As of 9am on Monday, there were 58,784 more lab-confirmed cases of coronaviru­s in the UK. It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 2,713,563.

The figures do not represent results from the whole UK due to data on deaths not being reported by Scotland on Monday.

■High Peak 3,054 (up 39)

■NE Derbyshire 3,835 (up 64)

■S Derbyshire 4,379 (up 92) Locally, the number of Covidrelat­ed deaths since the start of the pandemic is as follows: Derby and Burton NHS Trust - 997 (increase of nine ); Chesterfie­ld Royal Hospital - 211 (no change); Derbyshire Community Health Services - 26 (increase of one); Derbyshire Healthcare - 2 (no change)
