No place in our society for a person like him, say family

-

THE family of Graham Snell say killer Daniel Walsh has shown “absolutely no remorse whatsoever” for his grisly crime.

They are also angered that people think the 30-year-old killer is a family member – which Walsh claimed during the trial – when he is not.

And despite being jailed for life and being told it will be 27 years before he can even apply for parole, Mr Snell’s family are upset and believe that the murderer’s sentence is too lenient.

Steve Ashton, who is married to Mr Snell’s niece Anne-Marie, said: “The single thing that has annoyed us the most throughout all of this is that people think Walsh is a family member when that is simply untrue.

“He’s nothing of the sort, he has shown no remorse whatsoever for what he did to Graham from the start to the finish.

“It is a good sentence but as you might imagine the family still don’t think it is long enough.

“Let’s hope that in 27 years’ time he won’t be released – there is no place in our society for a person like him.”

Mr Ashton said: “He has played the police something rotten, like he’s dangled them on a string all this time. It’s disgusting how he’s gone about it.

“But what we will say is that the police have been absolutely brilliant with us all the way through this. Every single member of the team that has been involved has been fantastic, we cannot praise them highly enough.

“We first got a phone call asking if we were family members of Graham Snell and then met with them when they first told us it was a missing person investigation.

“Very quickly that became a murder investigation and they have kept us informed all the way through.”

Mr Ashton said: “He just preyed on him as a vulnerable victim, it is as simple as that.”
