Man learns an expensive lesson after sharing indecent images

-

A CHADDESDEN dad-of-four has been fined after sharing extreme pornographic photos.

Derby Crown Court heard Curtis Foster had received and then forwarded the images, which are illegal to possess.

The 35-year-old initially denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty.

Sentencing him, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “The offence here, and

I want to make it absolutely clear to anyone who might read about this, does not involve images of children or anything of that nature. That is why it is charged as possessing extreme pornographic images. You were in receipt of these two images and you forwarded them on so at least two other people would have seen them.

“You have described looking at them in your letter to me as ‘horseplay’ but this is a criminal offence. These were extremely offensive images and of an obscene character. You say you have learned your lesson here. Well, it is quite an expensive lesson.”

Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said police seized Foster’s iPhone in relation to another allegation in January 2017 and the images were discovered. Mr Jones said: “One was received on January 16 and was forwarded (to another person) on January 19 while the other was received on January 17 and was forwarded on January 23.”

After initially denying the charge Foster, of Blyth Place, pleaded guilty.

Stephen Tettey, mitigating, could not be heard clearly over the video link to court so Judge Bennett addressed the defendant directly, who told him he was a father of four children.

He said he had been working, earning £1,800 per month, but lockdown had temporarily halted his employment.

Judge Bennett fined Foster £500 and ordered him to pay £750 prosecution costs and a £50 victim surcharge.
