60 further deaths reported in our hospitals

THERE have been 60 further coronaviru­s-related deaths recorded at hospital trusts which operate in Derbyshire, combined figures from the weekend show.

There were 27 deaths reported in figures released last night, following 33 deaths reported on Saturday.

Local data showed across the city and county 1,209 cases have now been reported in 48 hours – 773 on Saturday and 506. In comparison, 814 cases were reported on Friday. Derby again reported the most cases with 443 over the two days. The local breakdown is as follows:

■A Valley 6,495 (+63 Sun; +75 Sat)

■Bolsover 4,201 (+52 Sun; +54 Sat)

■Ch’field 4,374 (+30 Sun; +85 Sat)

■Derby 14,602 (+177 Sun; +266 Sat)

■Dales 2,019 (+9 Sun; +20 Sat)

■Erewash 4,903 (+74 Sun; +71 Sat)

■High Peak 3,687 (+31 Sun; +71 Sat)

■NE Derbys 4,477 (+30 Sun; +59 Sat)

■S Derbys 5,249 (+40 Sun; +58 Sat)

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Sunday, there had been a further 38,598 lab-confirmed cases of coronaviru­s in the UK. It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,395,959.

The number of people in the UK to have been given a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine is 3,857,266 as of January 16, according to Government data published on Sunday – marking a rise of 298,087 from Saturday’s figures.

■Chesterfie­ld Royal Hospital 262 (+9 Sun; +11 Sat)
